I didn't start out solving problems on a chalkboard. I began as a Civil Engineer before discovering my true passion: teaching. I spent six years teaching Maths at Pearson High School, and it didn't take long to notice the real problem: not all learners were struggling because they couldn't do the math, but because sporting commitments and busy schedules left them with little time to practice or get the support they needed.
In my classroom, learners often told me I made Maths look like magic, as though there was a secret trick behind it. There wasn't. All it took was a solid grasp of the basics, a strong foundation, and the confidence to know which method to apply. Once learners saw that, something shifted. They stopped fearing the subject and started believing in their own ability.
That's what led to MatheMagical Tutoring SA. What began as after-school support for a few learners grew, through word of mouth, into a dedicated tutoring team. I hand-pick every tutor because they share the same belief I do: every learner can succeed in Mathematics when given the right foundation.
Our tutors bring real classroom experience and a genuine passion for helping learners succeed.
Mr. Cloete has spent over 12 years tutoring students aged 13 to 18, across the CAPS, IEB and Cambridge curricula in both Afrikaans and English. His experience runs wide: private tutoring, running lessons at St Francis Bay Learning Centre, and his current role assisting and moderating N1 to N6 Mathematics at Jeffreys Bay Technical College. He knows how to meet learners exactly where they are, always at your child's pace.
Mrs. Koekemoer has spent over 30 years teaching Mathematics, rising to Head of the Maths Department. For 26 years she also marked Grade 12 Paper 2, eventually becoming Head Marker for the whole Eastern Cape, so she knows exactly how examiners think and what earns those marks. She now teaches online with a calm, patient approach that puts nervous learners at ease.
Mrs. Grobbelaar brings 26 years of teaching experience, most of it built in Namibia, from Windhoek (Academia High School and Pionier Boys' School) to Grootfontein High School's senior Cambridge Mathematics and Tsumeb Gymnasium's IEB curriculum. That variety shows in how she connects with learners, and she's become a firm favourite at MMT for making Maths feel approachable and even fun.
Starting her career at Pearson High School, then onto HTS Daniel Pienaar, Hoërskool Brandwag and Muir College, Mrs. Meyer has spent over 40 years teaching Mathematics, becoming Head of Academics and Head of the Mathematics Department along the way. She spent years marking Grade 12 Paper 2 for the Eastern Cape, rising to Deputy Chief Marker. Her calm, patient style helps learners feel at ease and build real confidence.
